Young Chris – Making Drops

Young Chris – Making Drops

Young Chris opens “Making Drops” with tequila, smoke and villa living, then starts counting the hours needed to sustain it. Produced by Leer Luciano and released through CDR Records on October 7, the audio single introduces Catch A Vibe, announced for October 21. The beat is a bit underwhelming compared to the energy Chris is trying to bring.

The most telling passage runs through the narrator’s schedule: twelve hours on the block, late-night bagging in vacant lots, time with his partner, then deliveries again by seven. That timetable gives the title its substance. Money depends on constant movement, with even the time away from work fitted around the next round. The hook asks for discretion, with a report of a nearby strike force adding pressure to the routine.

Chris lets the threats interrupt the party talk. Retaliation, weapons and contempt for internet posturing sit beside an acknowledgment of how many people he has seen fall. A brief tribute to Mac Miller brings loss into a verse already full of intoxication. The narrator’s appetite for excess shares space with suspicion about what people are consuming and an awareness of the danger around him.

The second stretch follows him from the studio to the club and back to the trap, circling through diamonds, shopping and cash thrown in public. A warning against spending everything introduces some restraint, while a night shift keeps the earnings moving during sleep. Those details make the song’s luxury feel dependent on a system that has to keep running, even when its narrator clocks out.
