This single is a showcase for Little Brother’s breakout emcee from the hundred-acre hood, Big Pooh. But I must say that I bought a more suitable version of “Just Friends” directly from Big Pooh at a show a year or so back. That version slid lightly over a poppy beat, while this platter is a heavy-handed approach to a playful croon about casual sex. The b-side blesses with two more joints: the laid back “Jungle,” and “Too Real,” a brash two-sided attack and opportunity for Big Pooh to challenge his nice-guy reputation.
