Murs brings a pro-black message with “God Black / Black God” off of his Brighter Daze album release. There are several gems on this cut that addresses mindsets and the need for change. On particularly memorable line Murs raps, “Used to be slaves, now look at what we made/ We some leaders, but we’re leading these people to the grave”. This type of self reflection and hopefully subsequent course correction are important steps toward any sort of progress and growth.
