The Hip Hop Culture Center closes site on 125th St in Harlem

For the past 5 years The Hip Hop Culture Center has resided above the Magic Johnson Theater on 125th street in Harlem. Curtis Sherrod, Executive Director of the center, has announced that The Hip Hop Culture Center is closing its 125th street site. There is no definitive word on the reason behind it or if an alternative location is being looked for.
From the posted video recounting the work of The Hip Hop Culture Center it is evident that this is sad news. The center hosted events like the annual Rap-a-thon, workshops and worked to educate using Hip Hop as a vehicle. Hopefully we have not seen the last of the type of effort Sherrod and The Hip Hop Culture Center put into the culture and community.
