Ski Mask the Slump God comes back with “BreakTheRules!”. There’s a mix of heavy bass and that emotional rock loop, and on paper it sounds like it should hit harder than it does.

Ski’s delivery is still clear and understandable but the issue is more with how it lands. It sounds more like he’s chasing the beat than riding it.

Lyrically, the song is hit or miss. The hook repeats the same idea over and over without adding much to it. “Break the rules” works as a chant, but it doesn’t carry much weight beyond that. It feels more like a placeholder than a strong centerpiece. It feels like TikTok sound clip rap or something that was aimed at sync licensing rather than listening.

The video adds some entertainment value with the fight club setting and the visual nods, including the pumpkin smashing. It fits the chaotic tone, but it doesn’t elevate the track. I suppose holding the goat is supposed to define him as one but it doesn’t change how the song hits overall. It’s not a bad record, but it doesn’t feel like one that will stick the way some of his past releases have.
