Pharrell Williams ft. Jay-Z – Entrepreneur Video
Pharrell’s “Entrepreneur” highlights black business owners and tells part of their story. The imagery of everyday black people succeeding in entrepreneurship is a much needed image. It shows what can be achieved. I think a topic like this works better as a video than audio because of the ability to show the faces of those who have done what many don’t think they can do.
Jay-Z comes in and reinforces that idea of doing with the lines:
serial entrepreneur, we on our own
stop sticking around waiting for folks to throw you a bone
if you can’t by the building, at least stock the shelf
then keep on stackin’ ’til you’re stocking for yourself
