Atmosphere – Furthermore Video
“Furthermore” is barely a minute and change. On Atmosphere’s 2026 album Jestures, a 26-track release that leans into variety and loose structure, “Furthermore” plays like a quick stream of thoughts, part humor, part reflection, part off-the-wall imagery.
Slug delivers the verse in that familiar conversational tone. He jumps from surreal lines to grounded observations without warning. One second he is talking about opening a Waffle House in South Minneapolis, the next he is dropping lines like “You still get nightmares when you’re livin’ your dreams.” That balance has defined Slug’s writing for decades. He pulls you in with something funny or strange, then slips in something real. The closing line, “You’ve heard it all before, but I don’t give a, furthermore,” feels like a shrug and a mission statement at the same time. It is self-aware, but it keeps moving forward anyway.
With Jestures out now and the cross-continent U.S. and European tour Sphere & Loathing by Atmosphere and guests Sage Francis and ZooDeVille in motion, “Furthermore” feels like a small piece of a much larger story that they are still telling in real time.
