Prince Paul links up with XM Satellite Radio

Grammy award winning producer Prince Paul, XM
Satellite Radio, and The Room Service Group have
joined forces to produce “The Ill Out Show with
Prince Paul.” The show will combine Paul’s special
brand of comedy with the new medium of Satellite
Radio. “The ILL Out Show” will be aired on XM’s
classic Hip-Hop channel, The Rhyme 65. It will be a
combination of classic tracks, interviews, rare
outtakes and unreleased demos from Paul’s career.
And of course the jokes. Paul will be joined by
longtime partners in crime, Bimos, Newkirk, Buster,
Nyce and the infamous Mr. Dead. Prince Paul
writes, “I really look forward to bringing a different
spin and having some fun on The Rhyme 65. I just
want listeners to expect the unexpected.”

Paul is an artist unlike any other in that his work is
appreciated by an unprecedented range of Hip-Hop
fans. Wes Jackson of The Room Service Group had
this to say, “Paul’s career ranges from Stetsasonic to
De La [Soul] to Handsome Boy Modeling School to
Chris Rock. That type of longevity is rare if not
impossible to find. The show is great and working
with Paul is an honor.” Dion Summers, Senior
Program Director of Urban Programming for XM
Satellite Radio, added, “Paul is the consummate hip-
hop professional. He knows hip-hop from cover to
cover and his unique brand of humor and insight is
just what The Rhyme needs! He’s a welcome
addition to our Classic Hip-Hop channel.”

Paul was the DJ for the first Hip-Hop band
Stetsasonic best known for their hits “Sally”
and “Talking All That Jazz.” Paul then went on to
give a shot to three off the wall kids from Amityville,
Long Island. The group was De La Soul and the
resulting collaborative effort was the classic 3
Feet High and Rising. With the RZA, Paul formed
the short lived horror-core group The Gravediggaz.
After releasing two critically acclaimed records with
Dan The Automator as the Handsome Boy Modeling
School Paul worked with Chris Rock to produce his
comedy albums Bigger and Blacker and
Never Scared, both of which won Paul
Grammy awards.

“The Ill Out Show with Prince Paul” will be recorded
in XM’s state of the art New York Facility. The first
show is scheduled to air May 15th and will re-air
several times each month.
