Dipset CD packed as Disney Channel Hits

Disney/Dipset? It seems there’s been some confusion. At least two CD’s labeled Disney Channel Hits have surfaced that were actually uncensored Dipset CD’s. The first, in Sacramento, California and the second in Volusia County Florida where the Christmas present to a 6 year old girl was supposed to be a collection of hit songs from Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana and High School Musical.

A Florida family’s holiday celebration took an unexpected turn when a Christmas gift meant for a young child delivered far more than festive cheer. Jay Scott of Volusia County says what appeared to be a harmless Disney CD, labeled “Disney Channel Hits Remix,” turned out to contain explicit rap lyrics inappropriate for children. The CD had been given as a promotional holiday giveaway from a Toys “R” Us store in Daytona Beach and was intended as a gift for Scott’s six-year-old daughter.

According to Scott, the CD packaging looked authentic and indistinguishable from other Disney products. However, when his six- and twelve-year-old daughters played the disc, they were shocked to hear explicit language. Scott expressed concern about the potential impact such lyrics could have on young children, saying he worried about inappropriate words “creeping into” his daughter’s vocabulary without her understanding their meaning. The music on the disc was reportedly from Dipset, whose albums typically carry parental advisory warnings when properly labeled.

The child’s grandmother, who had picked up the CD during the holiday promotion, was described as “mortified” upon learning what the disc actually contained. Following the family’s complaint, the Toys “R” Us store manager confirmed that the CDs had been pulled from shelves. Disney Records, whose branding appeared on the mislabeled disc, had not issued a public comment at the time. While Scott emphasized that the incident would not necessarily turn him away from Disney products altogether, he called on the corporation to acknowledge the mistake and explain how such a mix-up occurred.
