Update: Check the event recap.

DMC World DJ Championship Finals Coming to Tokyo for the First Time in Asia

The legendary DMC World DJ Championship Finals, the world’s biggest DJ battle, will be held in Tokyo on October 11 and 12, 2025. This marks not only the first time the finals are coming to Japan, but also the first time they will be held anywhere in Asia. To celebrate the event’s 40th anniversary, world champion DJs and turntablism icons from across the globe will converge in Tokyo for an unforgettable two days of music history.

Over the years, the DMC stage has been the launchpad for global icons like A-Trak, who claimed victory at just 15, three-time champion Craze, and acclaimed producers Hudson Mohawke and Cashmere Cat. Japan has proudly added its own champions to the legacy, including DJ Kentaro, DJ IZOH, and DJ Matsunaga. AT DMC40 Tokyo, the world’s finest turntablists will converge in Tokyo, ready to test the very limits of their skill, imagination, and artistry.

Alongside the battles and amazing performances, DJ Honda will receive the DMC Lifetime Achievement Award. DJ Honda helped shape Japan’s hip hop legacy and made an impact on the global stage and will receive his flowers in recognition and celebration of his role in the scene.

Day 1: October 11 (Spotify O-EAST)

The first day will feature the finals for the Classic, Battle for Supremacy, and Scratch Battle categories. Hosting will be none other than Craze, along with DJ Babu of the Beat Junkies and Canadian champion Deejay T-JR.

Special guest performances include the duo KIREEK (DJ Yasa and DJ Hi-C), returning for a one-night-only reunion after their historic five consecutive DMC team world titles from 2007 to 2011. Other international icons taking the stage include:

  • DJ Kentaro, the first Asian to win the world finals, performing with multi-instrumentalist Takuya Nakamura
  • Invisibl Skratch Piklz (DJ Qbert, Shortkut, D-Styles), the pioneering turntablist crew

Day 1 will be a showcase of elite talent honoring DMC’s legacy.

Day 2: October 12 (Club Harlem)

The second day shifts to Shibuya’s Harlem for the finals of The Open category.

Headlining will be:

  • Craze, the only DJ to win three world titles in a row (1998–2000), respected worldwide as a bass music icon
  • DJ Koco aka Shimokita, a vinyl DJ from Tokyo who cuts and juggles 45s across funk, soul, disco, house, reggae, and more
