Back in the summer of 2010, Los Angeles producer Cassettes Won’t Listen and Brooklyn emcee Bisco Smith hit the studio together in what developed into a week-long collaboration, quickly developing into a new group, The Freeze Tag, and eventually birthing the duo’s concept EP, a project that deals with battling through restrictions and limitations, in art and life. Now, nearly a year later, that EP Hamster Kid is being released, aided by the artistic efforts of world renowned street artist Bishop 203 and director Mike Vidoli, along with a handful of remixes from the EP.
And to celebrate today’s EP release, The Freeze Tag are giving fans one of those remixes, this one from EchoesAlike, a frequent and long-time collaborator with Bisco, who builds his electro-inspired remix around an infectious, repeating staccato synth line. “Echoes helped produce one of my first songs I ever put out, “The Basics;” I’ve know him for a while, 5 or 6 years,” Bisc explains on the connection. “CWL and I passed out acapellas and stems to the people we have around us – our friends – and let them go where they wanted with it. I love Echoes’ remix; it’s upbeat and feels like it has epic movement to it, which is what “The Visions”, and Hamster Kid, is about – movement.”
