Ticket Registration Begins
March 28, 2006 The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (BHF) is proud to announce Big Daddy Kane as the headliner for their June 24th event. A founding member of Marley Marl’s Juice Crew, Kane is credited for writing several of Biz Markie and Roxanne Shante’s biggest hits as well as crafting his own classics including “Set It Off” and “Ain’t No Half- Steppin’”. Kane was one of the first Brooklyn MC’s to gain national notoriety and respect that eventually paved the way for fellow Brooklynites Jay-Z and Notorious BIG. Big Daddy Kane was also one of the first MC’s to cross the line into acting and other ventures. His recent performance at VH1’s Hip Hop Honors was the highlight of the event and further cemented his status as one of the greatest to ever do it.
Big Daddy Kane had this to say about his upcoming Festival performance; “I was one of the first to plant a flower in Brooklyn, now I’m coming back to watch it blossom in my backyard.”
Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz has voiced his support of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, saying that Brooklyn is “home to so many Hip Hop legends and devoted fans – not to mention more shout-outs than any city in America – I am proud that the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is entering its second year. By highlighting messages of empowerment and unity, the Festival proves that we not only know our Hip Hop roots, but that in Brooklyn those roots run deep. And with Big Daddy Kane in the house, we know Brooklyn won’t be half-steppin’!”
Fans who wish to attend the event can now register for tickets on the Festival home-site, www.brooklynbodega.com. While the BHF is a free event, you must be a member of Brooklyn Bodega and have a ticket to enter.
BHF organizers are also pleased to announce a stellar lineup of media outlets that have partnered for the event. AllHipHop.com, Okayplayer.com and Fusicology.com will be the official web partners for the BHF, tapping into their extensive online communities whose audiences are a perfect fit with the Festival.
In an ongoing effort to deliver compelling content, the BHF has teamed up with Mobile Content provider, GoTV to create exclusive content available via a mobile platform. GoTV’s Hip Hop Official channel will serve up interviews, features, and footage from the day of the show. “The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival features some of the best artists that hip hop has to offer and GoTV is very excited to cover this event through our mobile channel, Hip Hop Official.” said Daylan Williams, producer of Hip Hop Official. Synthesis Magazine will be the official print publication of the BHF, providing coverage to their eclectic group of subscribers, and offering exclusive content from Festival participants leading up to, and after the 24th.
