March 8, 2006
Room Service Productions, along with New York
State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic
Preservation and The Brooklyn Bridge Park
Conservancy are proud to announce The Tobacco
Warehouse as the new venue for the 2nd Annual
Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (BHF). The historic
Tobacco Warehouse is located in Empire-Fulton Ferry
State Park between the Brooklyn and Manhattan
Bridges along the East River waterfront. The event
is set to take place on Saturday, June 24, 2006.
The Festival will be a featured part of the free
programming that the Brooklyn Bridge Park
Conservancy is organizing for State Parks at Empire
Fulton Ferry State Park this summer.

The BHF is a free, all-day, outdoor event celebrating
Hip Hop music and culture, and the borough of
Brooklyn as one of the country’s premier cultural
destinations. “We are delighted to welcome the
annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival to Empire-Fulton
Ferry State Park as part of the free summer
programming at the park. The celebration of Hip Hop
music and culture will certainly provide exciting and
diverse entertainment for friends and families of all
ages,” remarked Mary Ellen Kris, Assistant Deputy
Commissioner of the New York State Office of Parks,
Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Showcasing talent from across the musical spectrum,
performers will not only include traditional Hip Hop,
but also Jazz, Soul, R’n’B, and others. “The Brooklyn
Hip-Hop Festival will draw people from all over New
York City and beyond to this beautiful waterfront
Park to hear a roster of internationally recognized
artists,” said Marianna Koval, Co-Executive Director
of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. “We are
thrilled to help bring this free public program to the
Tobacco Warehouse.” Wes Jackson, President of
Room Service Productions, adds, “Our mission is to
shine the light on the positive aspects of Hip Hop
culture. And with the help of the good people at
New York State Parks and Brooklyn Bridge Park
Conservancy we have a great venue to help realize
our vision. In a few years, the waterfront will serve
as a world-class venue for many performers. We’re
just excited to begin that process by bringing
attention to this incredible venue, and hope to find a
permanent home for the Festival along the
waterfront.”

Performers will be announced shortly. For more
