Terror Squad’s Femme Fatale Finally Releases Debut Album

Remy Ma There’s Something About Remy: Based On A True Story Drops Dec 6th

(Brooklyn, NY October 6th, 2005) After appearing on several mixtapes and a slew of hit street records, Bronx native Remy Ma is finally releasing her debut solo album. Entitled, There’s Something About Remy: Based On A True Story, the album is a reflection of Remy’s fortitude, focus, and determination. This is the album her mentor, the late, great Big Pun, had been trying to get out of her since he took the female prodigy under his wing seven years ago.

A natural poet, Remy always had a knack for writing rhymes, which eventually led to her battle rapping anyone in her neighborhood. Once Big Pun heard her spit he became her mentor and she was inducted as the sole female member to Terror Squad (TS). This marriage thrust Remy into the spotlight resulting in several appearances on songs with rap superstars including Eminem, Lil’ Jon, Mase, Big L, D Block, and R. Kelly. She wowed street listeners worldwide with her encore verse on the M.O.P.’s “Ante Up Remix” and more recently, her verse on the TS single “Lean Back” helped make the song the summer anthem of last year.

There’s Something About Remy features a range of emotions and exemplifies the duality of Remy’s nature. She shows her softer side on the Alchemist produced song “Thug Luv,” which features an unreleased Pun verse that tells of an unbreakable bond between a Puerto Rican boy and a Black girl from the Boogie Down. With “Can’t Nobody”, Cool & Dre craft a grimy backdrop for Remy’s tough persona. On “Feel So Good,” Remy joins Def Jam’s newest Rn’B sensation Ne-Yo and reveals a more sensitive side. “It’s hard for me to get real gushy gushy on record,” she says, “but it’s a nice love song, like on some ‘I love you, but I’m not sweating you and I won’t stab your car tires.’ It’s nice.” The Swizz Beats produced lead single “Whuteva” is already getting spins on the radio. The full album comes out December 6th on TS member Fat Joe ‘s new label SRC Records under Universal Records.
