5th Annual Room Service & Brooklyn Bodega CMJ Showcase adds Stetsasonic

October 4, 2006
As the days draw nearer to the Room Service & Brooklyn Bodega’s 5th Annual CMJ showcase, producers of the event have just announced the addition of several Hip-Hop icons to the lineup. Joining an already star-studded roster, Freddy Foxxx, the legendary Stetsasonic and underground Hip-Hop heavyweight, J-Live have been confirmed.

The event, which takes place Tuesday, October 31st, at BB King’s Times Square will feature Prince Paul and The Ill Out Crew, as well as CL Smooth, AG, the Juggaknots, Dres of Black Sheep, Mojoe, Chen Lo, Nemiss and others. The 5th Annual Room Service and Brooklyn Bodega CMJ Showcase is sponsored by Verizon Wireless.

Paul’s fellow Long Island native and former high school partner, Freddie Foxxx, a.k.a. Bumpy Knuckles is an underground veteran who is respected from coast to coast. He has worked with the likes of Gangstarr, KRS-1, De La Soul and M.O.P. His hardcore lyrics along with non-stop energy will have Times Square rocking.

In addition to Foxxx, the group that started Prince Paul’s career, Stetsasonic will also be in attendance for this memorable night. Daddy-O, Frukwan, Delite, DBC, Wise and Prince Paul were Stetsasonic the “First Hip-Hop Band,” and are known for their classic records, “Sally” and “Talking all that Jazz.” Paul’s career started when Daddy-O tapped a teenage Paul to DJ for the up and coming band. Stet went on to release several smash records on Tommy Boy in the 80’s and 90’s including “In Full Gear” and “On Fire.”

Lyrical wizard J-Live will also be performing songs from his forthcoming album. Known for his unique story telling and talent as a master MC, J-Live penned such underground hits such as “Braggin’ Writes,” and “Satisfied.” Paul helped J create the timeless album, “The Best Part” while J was signed to London Records. J later returned the favor by rocking “The Truth” on Handsome Boy Modeling School’s, “So, How’s Your Girl?”

The 5th Annual Room Service CMJ Showcase is will be a celebration of Prince Paul’s career. Professor Prince Paul will be joined by friends and colleagues as well as some of the many artists he has worked with over his 20 year career.
