 RapÄôs self proclaimed ÄúBaddest BitchÄù Trina is taking another step in a push for an acting career. She is yet another recording artist taking the move from video screen to TV screen in her upcoming TV series set to debut on the new network, The Black Family Channel, from actor, flim maker, comedian, Robert Townsend.
TrinaÄôs new sitcom is entitled ÄúWith Friends Like TheseÄù and sets Trina as the character Cleo, the owner of one of Miami's top modeling agencies, who inherits a beauty salon from her deceased aunt. ÄúWith Friends Like TheseÄù pilot also stars video vixen Ki Toy Johnson (Outkasts ÄúI Like The Way You MoveÄù video) and Luz Whitney (Spike LeeÄôs ÄúBamboozledÄù). For those of you who miss one of the many airings of the old school Hip HopÄôs Fat BoysÄô movie Disorderlies, you will be able to catch Prince Markie Dee making a guest appearance in the pilot as well.
This is not however TrinaÄôs first acting experience. She made her debut last year with the straight to video independent film ÄúA Miami TailÄù which starred her as a girl who gets fed up with the violence in the streets and organizes the women of the neighborhood to protest by withholding sex until the violence comes to an end. This comedy also starred up and coming comic Benji Brown (BET, In Touch With Reality DVD), Sommore and a cameo appearance by Lost Boys rapper Mr. Cheeks.{mosgoogle}
The Black Family Channel is a new cable network that that has a reach in the top 25 African American television markets. The brainchild of Robert Townsend, the Black Family Channel, says itÄôs aim is to provide informative and entertaining programming targeted to black families.
