Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' deleted after 9 weeks at #1; Performance Confirmed for MTV Movie Awards

(May 31st, 2006, Los Angeles, CA) - Gnarls Barkley's phenomenal hit 'Crazy' will be deleted this week, ending a phenomenal run of nine consecutive weeks at the top of the UK charts.

The decision to delete 'Crazy' was made to ensure that the focus of the Gnarls Barkley campaign now falls on the second single, 'Smiley Faces', scheduled for a July 17th release.

On the subject of deleting the single, Gnarls Barkley himself was heard to say "I consider myself a realist. I suppose that goes for most of us. But I have found a way to at once hold them, fold them, walk away and run. This was not a painless decision. But pain is nothing but a bi-product of beauty. Potentially toxic, to be sure, but that's all it is."

The success that Gnarls Barkley has enjoyed with 'Crazy' has been remarkable. Having made music history when the track became the first to top the UK singles chart on download sales alone, 'Crazy' has dominated in the UK, with sales in excess of 700,000. The deletion of the track - the longest running #1 single in over a decade - will ensure that 'Crazy' has only ever charted at #1. The duo also enjoyed the rare 1-2-3-4 of simultaneous single, album, ringtone and airplay domination.

Additionally, the band has confirmed they will be performing at this years MTV Movie Awards on July 8th, hosted by Jessica Alba. The obvious big question is, what will be the band's 'theme', given each show they've done so far has involved different costumes, including The Wizard of Oz at Coachella.
