M-Phazes Remixes Coalmine’s Catalog For Their Forthcoming Release, ‘Phazed Out’

mphazes-phazed-out-mixed-by-dj-rhettmaticAustralia’s top rank hip-hop producer M-Phazes and legendary turntablist DJ Rhettmatic of the World Famous Beat Junkies, join forces for the release of Phazed Out.  Set for a February 14th digital release, the project will available in CD in select stores stores on February 28th.  The album is a compilation of select singles taken from Coalmine Record’s catalog, remixed by the Aria Award winning M-Phazes and blended to a seamless perfection by the former DMC West Coast Champion, Rhettmatic.

Phazed Out breathes new life into many of the boutique label’s previously released material, showcasing M-Phazes signature use of soulful melodies, coupled with loose, smacking drums.  This fast-paced mix includes an impressive roster of guest features that epitomize the climate of today’s underground hip-hop scene, such as Heltah Skeltah, Saigon, Inspectah Deck, CL Smooth, Emilio Rojas, Skyzoo, Sadat X, El Da Sensei, Termanology, Bekay, DJ Babu, Torae, Brown Bag AllStars, Chubb Rock, DJ Revolution, Mela Machinko, Krondon, Phil The Agony, Mista Sinista, J-Live and more.  To boot, the mix is adorned with drops between song blends from several iconic hip-hop producers such as Sha Money XL, DJ Premier, !llmind, Jake One &  Nottz, whom all co-sign M-Phazes production talent.

In release of Phazed Out, M-Phazes issues the following statement: “I have been a fan of Rhett since the 90’s.  He’s an integral part of hip-hop history, especially for my generation, so it’s a real honor to have worked with him on Phazed Out.”

“A lot people think I’ve strayed from my roots as a gritty hip hop beat maker, and though it is true that I do work with a lot of varied artists of different genres, my first love is hip-hop, and I will always come back to making that soulful hip-hop shit”, concludes M-Phazes.

Phazed Out illustrates a cohesive balance between producer, emcee and DJ.  The album is reminiscent of the mixtape-style album, circa both the Soundbombing volumes (Rawkus Records) and Beat Junkie’s mixtape series that reigned supreme during the late 90’s.  “This particular project brings me back to the days when mixtapes and mix-shows were the primary outlets for exclusive new music, long before the internet era of today”, states Rhettmatic.

With this release, M-Phazes continues to prove why he is one of the most burgeoning and versatile producer’s in the scene today, boasting a discography that includes track placements with the likes of Pharoahe Monch, Amerie, Talib Kweli, Mann, Slaughterhouse, Sean Price, Redman and more.  The former champion of Sha Money’s 2008 One Stop Shop Producer’s Champion proves that no matter where you’re from, you can make an impact on the rest of the world…good gracious!

An untagged, DJ-free version of Phazed Out will be released digitally on February 28th, accompanied with a bonus track featuring Emilio Rojas, one of New York’s most talented and recognized artists on the rise.  The physical release will contain a complimentary digital download of both the untagged main & instrumental album passes (bonus track not included).
