Green Lantern & Sniper prepare history-making transatlantic mixtape
May 20th will see The Evil Genius DJ Green Lantern and rapper/producer Sniper usher in a new era of global music. Sniper, born in London, England and raised in Ayia Napa, Cyprus is hailed as “The Prince of Euro” by legendary DJs Tim Westwood and Green Lantern. With his new mixtape “The Scope’s on You Volume 2” Sniper sets out to cement his growing reputation in his home continent of Europe as well as to introduce himself to the American audience.
The tape features artists from around the globe, including a collaboration with Akon, who sported Sniper’s Cyprus chain when performing together at the now legendary Medfest. Other collaborators include Stephen and Damian Marley’s new prot√©g√© Illestr8, as well as Freeway, Copywrite and long-time friend and collaborator Memphis Bleek. Bleek features on one of the standout tracks “Movemaker”, as well as on the remix of “Around The World”, the track that saw the duo shoot to the top of the HMV UK download charts.
The tape fuses hip-hop with global influences derived from Sniper’s unique upbringing and not only showcases Sniper as an emcee and a producer, but also as an ambassador for the hip-hop culture.
After years spent turning Ayia Napa into Europe’s number 1 hip-hop vacation spot as well as remixing hits such as the Cassius Henry featuring Kanye West smash “The One”, Sniper is ready to step onto the international stage and represent Europe around the world with his revolutionary “The Scope’s on You Volume 2”, which will be made available online as a free download from May 20th.
