End of the Weak, International Hip Hop Movement, Sponsors World View, World’s First 100% Nonprofit Global Hip Hop Project

Stamford, CT (Rap Newswire) March 13, 2009 ‚Äî Hip hop goliath EOW (End of the Weak), the longest-running weekly hip hop show in New York City and a growing international movement, has recognized AWKWORD’s one-of-a-kind work with World View, the first-ever 100% nonprofit global hip hop project. Effective immediately, EOW is (1) the album’s lead industry sponsor and (2) host of the album-release party, scheduled for Summer 2009 in New York City.

Lifelong Rapper/Revolutionary AWKWORD is doing something never before done in hip hop — AWKWORD is the mastermind of World View, the earth’s first 100% nonprofit global hip hop project. The album, made possible by a grant from The Morgan Stanley Foundation, will be hosted by Pace Won (of the Outsidaz and The Fugees camp) and Block McCloud (of Brooklyn Academy and Army of the Pharoahs).

World View will feature production from 15 nations around the world — and every continent except Antarctica. Guest MCs will include album hosts Pace Won and Block McCloud, as well as hip hop heavyweights Main Flow, Sha Stimuli, Josh Martinez, AWOL One, Beretta 9 of Killarmy (Wu-Tang), Akir, Ruste Juxx, Viro the Virus, and many others.

All proceeds from album and event ticket sales will be donated to Guns 4 Cameras (Aim to Live), a registered 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to eradicating gun violence through the hip hop-inspired education/empowerment of our inner-city youth. G4C’s leader, AWKWORD’s long-time friend Hezues R’, founded the organization after surviving a near-fatal incident that took place on his mother’s front porch. Hezues was shot at 22 times at age 22, at close range, and he survived to tell his story.

It is AWKWORD’s hope, as well as the hope of all of his partners in the Word View project, that Hezues’s story will spread across the globe, and kids everywhere will learn the alternatives to gangbanging and resorting to gun violence to settle conflicts.

Hip hop may have a bad reputation, thanks to shootings and stabbings at industry events, but hip hop can and should be redeeming. With World View, hip hop is a powerful force for good.
