Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival annouces SCR partners for 2008 calendar

Brooklyn, NY- The SUPPORT CELEBRATE REPRESENT or SCR initiative is the key driving force behind this year’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. The SCR is a collection of like minded business, artists, promoters, media outlets and event producers joining forces to help produce the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.

Two weeks ago Brooklyn Bodega announced the addition of SCR partner Lyricist Lounge. Today, The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival and its producers Brooklyn Bodega announced the complete list of SCR partners.

They are: Lyricist Lounge, Allhiphop, BoomBoom NYC, White Gold, The Brooklyn Brewery, Fusicology, powerHouse Books and Arena, DJ Eclipse, DJ Kev Sakoda, DJ Parler, Tiffany Marie and Mean Red Productions. More members will be announced in the coming weeks.

John Davis, Director of Sales and Business Development for The Brooklyn Hip-Hop festival elaborated, "The SCR is the manifestation of our mission. Quality Hip-Hop cultural programming for all no matter your socio or economic status. A return to the park jam. When you give a dollar to the Festival know that you are supporting all members of the SCR. Whether that is a Free Slick Rick show produced by the [Lyricist] Lounge or White Gold’s "Say It Loud" James Brown event. We share marketing and other resources that to promote these events and strengthen our underlying brands."

Festival Executive Director Wes Jackson continued, "The members of the SCR struggle just as we do. Struggle to raise money. Struggle to have our voice heard over the white noise of the mainstream. We are working to save Hip-Hop. So rather than suffer separately we decided to win together. Together with the ultimate help of the people, the Hip-Hop nation, we will let people that there are soldiers out here that will never let Hip-Hop die."
