2nd Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival Adds Rhymefest, The Procussions
& XM Satellite Radio

April 17, 2006 The 2nd Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (BHF) continues to
build its star-studded lineup by announcing two more additions, Chicago lyricist
Rhymefest and Colorado’s own The Procussions. Rhymefest and The
Procussions join Brooklyn native Big Daddy Kane and Chicago newcomer Lupe
Fiasco. Along with the addition of Rhymefest and The Procussions, BHF has added
XM Satellite Radio as an official partner. Dion Summers, VP of Programming for
XM added, “XM Satellite Radio, and our Classic Hip-Hop channel, The Rhyme, are
honored to be a part of this year’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. We look forward
to showcasing the energy, influence and culture of the “planet of Brooklyn” to a
national hip-hop audience!” The BHF will take place on Saturday, June 24th at
the Historic Tobacco Warehouse as a part of the Summer’s free programming
presented by Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, NY State Parks and Empire Fulton
Ferry State Park.

The Festival is excited to have Rhymefest return for a second year after he
rocked Williamsburg at the First Annual BHF. In 2005 Rhymefest shared the stage
with Brand Nubian, Little Brother and Leela James. Riding high off of his debut
single “Brand New” with Kanye West and the follow up “Dynomite” produced by Just
Blaze, Rhymefest is set for the release of his debut album, Blue Collar
on ALLIDO/J Records. Rhymefest added, “Yo last year was off the chain!!!
Brooklyn really showed me love so this year I’m coming back to bring y’all some
of the Windy City’s finest and I got some surprises for y’all this year!!!
Nothing but that incredible energy and that good music!!!!”

Recently signed to the re-launched Rawkus Records, The Procussions members’
Mr. J Medeiros, Rez, and Stro have made it a point to remain true to the crew
they formed in 1998. Their unique sound is centered on their belief that the
percussion is the heart of Hip- Hop, its defining quality and driving force.
When asked about their upcoming BHF performance, The Procussions had this to
add, “You will need a powerbar in the middle of our show. If Brooklyn is ready
for that then things will be just fine” said Mr. J Medeiros. Stro added his
excitement about rocking the same stage as Big Daddy Kane, “He’s out of this
world. The VH1 performance was one of the best performances I have ever seen
period. When he got up there and did the splitis in a yellow suit, Classic!” The
Procussions’ full length album, 5 Sparrows for 2 Cents is set to be
released May, 30.

More artist announcements as well as details on XM’s involvement are expected
in the coming weeks. The BHF is a free event, but you must be a registered
member of The Brooklyn Bodega, and have a ticket to enter. More information can
