May 15, 2007 – New York, NY – Celebrating five years of Hip-Hop Cinema, Education, Art and Culture, the H2O [Hip-Hop Odyssey] International Film Festival (H2OIFF) will showcase the best of Hip-Hop Cinema. A limited amount of $50 festival all-access passes for non –profit will go on sale today!  

Taking place from May 28, 2007 – June 17, 2007 at the ImaginAsian Theatre in New York City and other venues throughout New York City, H2OIFF will screen over 80 films that include documentaries, narratives, music videos, and trailers from around the world.  

Hip-Hop Aficionados will have a chance to engage in riveting, thought-provoking panel discussions with over 50 avant guarde filmmakers, industry experts, community leaders, and historians. There will be full days devoted to the youth, women, social justice, Hip-Hop history, and the craft of filmmaking and self-distribution. Dozens of companies and organizations will participate, from Chuck D Mobile to the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement.  Esteemed panelists and moderators include Rosa Clemente, Glenn Toby, Felicia Palmer, Jamal Joseph, Davey D, Leba Haber, Minister Server, Cristina Veran, Hezues R, Sharese Bullock, Lance Feurtado, Grouchy Greg, Lathan Hodge, and Monifa Bandele.

The festival is set to begin on May 28th with a special pre-launch screening of Rock the Bells and an after-party hosted by Bobbito Garcia at the APT.  From May 31-June 17, the movie line-up will include: Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang, I Love Hip-Hop in Morocco, Beyond Beats and Rhymes, Bling: A Planet Rock, Waters Rising, Wholetrain, The Art of Love and Struggle, La Bruja:The Witch From the Bronx , Guilty or Innocent of Using the N Word, Holy Hip-Hop, and Bigger Than Hip-Hop.

The festival concludes with the Odyssey Awards extravaganza hosted by Power 105’s Ed Lover and legendary Comedian, Paul Mooney. Sponsored by QD3 Entertainment, World Up!, Lyrics To Go, AllHiphop.com and Powerhouse Books. Some of this year’s honorees include the Crash Crew, Cold Crush, Public Enemy, Ralph McDaniels, Charlie Ahearn, Ernest Dickerson, Grand Wizard Theodore, Sandra “Lady Pink” Fabara, Ice T, and the First Lady of Hip-Hop, Cindy Campbell.  Two exclusive Pre-Odyssey Awards filmmaker’s reception will take place to honor pioneers Iris Morales,Kathleen Cleaver, Founder of the Black Panther Film Festival, as well as the late Ted Demme, co-creator of Yo! MTV Raps.

The festival welcomes back the NY State Council on the Arts, the Ford Foundation, Film Blitz, BOE Laboratory, Zipcar and BET J as Supporting Sponsors.
